                • Game goal
                  • Each player is dealt 10 cards.
                  • The aim of the game is to create sets and runs using the cards in your hands & to minimize the deadwood carried in your hand.
                    • Sets: groups of 3 or 4 cards with the same numerical value (e.g. 3 cards showing 7 or 4 cards showing 9).
                    • Runs: 3 or more suited consecutive cards. Aces are counted as 1 and do not connect to Kings.
                      • Playing
                        • At the start of the game the player can choose to take the card from the discard pile and throw one of their cards onto it, or to pass & give their computer opponent the same opportunity.
                        • After that on each turn the players can choose to pick up a card from the stock or take the card from the top of the waste pile & discard any card from their hand on the turn.
                        • Scoring
                          • Cards which are put into sets or runs do not score points.
                          • Points are scored based on how much deadwood players have in their hands.
                            • Cards are valued at their numerical value shown on them. Aces are worth 1 point each and face cards are worth 10 points each.
                            • Deadwood is the value of all cards in your hand that are not parts of sets or runs.
                              • A player can knock when they have 10 or less deadwood in their hands.
                              • When a player knocks they can discard 1 of the 11 cards they are holding and then play the remaining cards.
                              • Points are scored based on how much deadwood players have in their hands relative to their opponent. For example, if you have 5 deadwood & your opponent has 23 then they will score 0 points on the hand and you will score 18.
                              • Your opponent also gets to discard a card from their hand when you knock & if you have sets or runs which are related to their cards they can also lay off their cards onto your related sets and runs to further educe their deadwood.
                              • Gin
                                • If a player uses all cards in their hand and knocks they score a 25 point gin bonus.
                                • Your game score is cumulative across all 10 levels.
                                  • Strategy
                                    • Knocking early
                                      • If you can knock early there is a good chance your opponent will still have a lot of deadwood.
                                      • The longer the hand goes on for the greater the likelihood your opponent will call Gin, so if a hand has played out a while you may want to knock.
                                      • Give yourself options
                                        • Try to keep cards in your hands which give you multiple lay options.
                                        • For example if you have 6 and 7 of clubs and the 6 of diamonds you could make a set or run using any of the following: 5 or 8 of clubs, 6 of hearts, or 6 of spades.
                                        • Track the discard pile
                                          • Pay attention to which cards the computer is picking up from the discard pile & plan your lays around them.
                                          • If you have seen multiple 6 cards appear in the discard pile then it does you no good to hold onto 2 sixes in your hand as you will not be able to complete a set of them since the other 2 are buried in the discard pile.
                                          • Cards to shed
                                            • It is generally received wisdom to keep lower valued cards and get rid of higher valued cards.
                                            • In some cases (particularly early in hands) it can make sense to keep some high value cards in your hand because your opponent might be likely to discard a card which would help you.
                                              • If you had Queen of diamonds and Queen of spades along with a Jack of diamonds you could create a set or run with any of the following: Queen of hearts, Queen of clubs, 10 of diamonds, or King of diamonds.
                                              • As you get later into the hand it makes more sense to try to play low and get rid of high cards.
                                              • Levels
                                                • Each hand counts as a level.
                                                • Target Audience
                                                  • The game is suited for people of all ages who like rummy or card games.
                                                  • The game has no adult themed content.
